Remarks to the Online Version on Yucata.de
Display
The online version shows colored fields instead of the possession pieces.
This is easier to see and was wished by the authors.
Usability
The start player will be chosen randomly by the system.
Each player plays with red as standard and sees the opponent in black.
The player colors can be changed by clicking on the colored stone beside the player's name.
This change has no influence on the game.
The fields where a placement piece can be placed will be colored blue when you move the mouse over them.
Clicking on it will place the piece.
Double Turns / Confirmation
Both stones of a double turn can be placed without a break.
The only exception is if the first stone creates a possession from inside. Since possession can follow from outside, and the player shouldn't
see the results of possible chain reactions, one must confirm this turn. Afterward, the turn cannot be canceled.
Something special here for the users of Chrome and Safari (both browsers are based on "WebKit"): After the first part of the turn, the player needs to press "Finish Turn".
We have found no better workaround for the longstanding problem with these browsers.
Notation / Game Log
Notation for all turns and possession is visible on the right side during the entire game.
The meaning of the characters:
- c = center field
- i = inner ring
- m = middle ring
- o = outer ring
- x = the field was conquered from the inside
- + = the field was conquered from the outside
The numbering of the eight fields goes clockwise and starts right beside high noon.
At any time during the game you can display the moves from earlier in the game.
Simply click on the field in the turn list.
To continue the game press the displayed button.
Premature end of game
There is an additional rule to those published by the authors.
One case was not described is when one player is unable to make a valid move.
For example, this can happen if the other player owns the entire outer ring.
After talking to the authors, we decided that the last player to make a move is the winner.
In addition, if the opponent can't move after the first step of a double turn, the game instantly ends.
